1, 3, 2

Huge thanks to a good friend Steve O for this amazing game.  Materials-free, no preparation, works with all ages and levels and it makes your students laugh.

Put students into pairs and ask them to repeat “1, 3, 2” taking it in turns to say a number.  It sounds simple, but it’s actually quite difficult.

Give them a couple of minutes to try that then introduce “1, clap, 2”.

Hilarity ensues.

I played “pass the object” yesterday, also by Steve O. We were going to spend part of the lesson learning how to do PET Speaking Part 3, so I thought getting them to describe mundane objects would be a good warmer.

In groups of three I gave them an object to pass round and say something about. After a while each group passed on their object so ecah group had to talk about all three things. The objects were: a pen, a toy car and a pocket calculator.

At the end, I said three sentences and they had to guess which sentence was true for each object. These were:

This is from a Chinese shop (bazar)
    This was a present.
This was left behind by a student.

Can you guess? (It’s very easy!)
