I’ve done that!

Here’s quite a fun activity which was suggested to me during my talk in Lérida by one of the participants, Natalie.  It’s similar to the Truth or Lie which I’ve blogged about a couple of times but in this activity the emphasis is on asking questions to ascertain whether the person is telling the truth or lying.

Have a series of cards with present perfect sentences and invite a student to come to the front and read a sentence.  That student has to convince the other students that he has done what is written on the card and the other students have to ask questions to help them work out whether he’s telling the truth or lying.
You can use this activity to practise other tenses too: present simple, going to future, past simple, etc.

Similar programme on TV over here – celeb reads a statement out, other team has to guess if true or false after questioning them about the statement. Another way would be to have two true and one false statement – pupils have to guess which one is false.
