One of my favourite classroom resources is a pack of homemade verb cards : they were easy to make, great for a huge range of games and always on hand when I feel a bit stuck for the five minutes at the end of a lesson.  Mine are even colour-coded with purple card for irregular verbs and orange and yellow for regular verbs.  Thinking about it, I could even have gone a step further and divided the regular verbs into the different -ed endings…but perhaps that’s being a little over-ambitious!

So, what can you do with them?  My three favourite games are pictionary, definitions and using the verb in the next sentence of a story, and all these games encourage students to speak and recycle vocabulary.
